How to choose an operator

  • Confirm licensing and insurance, particularly for water and air tours
  • Check group size. Twelve people on a wetland boat beats forty
  • Read the inclusions: park passes, meals, pickup points and hotel transfers
  • Ask about wet weather and low water policies before you pay a deposit
  • For cultural tours, look for Aboriginal ownership or genuine community partnership
How far ahead should I book tours?
Dry season sunset cruises, Tiwi tours and scenic flights fill weeks out, and faster during school holidays. Wet season is usually a few days' notice.
Do tours run in the Wet season?
Many do, with adjusted routes. Scenic flights and wetland cruises are often better then, while remote 4WD tours pause.
